Generally refers to sexual disorders that are manifested by low desire and or a low sense of pleasure. This sexual restriction can occur at any stage of life. A woman who has no desire for sex is called frigid. The reason for this is usually hormonal or partnership problems.
Frigidity (from Latin frigidus "cool, cold"; historically also sexual coldness) refers to various changes in normal sexual behaviour. The term is outdated as a technical term, but is still popular in general language. Frigidity manifests itself in low sexual desire or low sexual feeling. It can be a pathological disorder, but often this is not the case.
The term is more commonly used in relation to women, but linguistically this restriction does not make sense, as men can have the same symptoms.
Impairment of sexuality can occur at any stage of life: Reduced libido (lack of sexual desire), disorders of sexual arousal and orgasmic disturbances are among the sexual dysfunctions. Furthermore, pain caused by sexual activity can occur. | |
